Anand Sinha
Deputy Governor, Reserve Bank of India
Anand Sinha is a Deputy Governor in the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), where he is in charge of regulation of commercial banks, non-banking financial companies and urban cooperative banks. His other responsibilities include Information Technology. Closely associated with banking-sector reforms in India, Mr Sinha has represented the RBI in various committees and groups of the BIS, such as the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision, the Policy Development Group, the Macro Prudential Supervision Group, the Macro Variable Task Force, and the Committee on Global Financial Systems. He represented India on the G20 Working Group on Enhancing Sound Regulation and Strengthening Transparency. Mr Sinha is the Chairman of the Governing Council of the Institute for Development and Research in Banking Technology, a research and development institution on financial-sector technology set up by the RBI. He also sits on the board of the Securities and Exchange Board of India. Mr Sinha holds a master’s degree in Physics from the Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi.
