M. Veerappa Moily
Minister of Corporate Affairs, Government of India
M Veerappa Moily is Minister for Power and Corporate Affairs, Government of India. He was previously Minister for Law & Justice, Government of India. During his 40-year career in public service and politics, Mr Moily has been Chairman of various reform commissions, including 2nd Administrative Reforms Commission, Revenue Reforms Commission and Tax Reforms Commission.
He has been Chief Minister of Karnataka; and Minister of Law, Youth Service, Culture, Information, Parliamentary Affairs and Education, Minister for Finance, Planning & Tourism, and Minister for Small Scale Industries in the Government of Karnataka. During his stint in the various ministries in Karnataka, he led several path-breaking projects and policies, including the establishment of the Krishna Jalabhagya Nigam scheme, which mobilised billions of rupees for irrigation projects; the International Airport in Bangalore; and Electronic City International Convention Centre.
A veteran politician, Mr Moily is also a poet. His writing includes Ramayana Mahanveshanam, an epic poem for which he received the Moorti Devi Award by Gyanpeth Foundation.
