Ben Hughes
Global Commercial Director & Deputy CEO, Financial Times

Ben Hughes was appointed Global Commercial Director and Deputy CEO in November 2006. He is responsible for all global advertising sales operations (print and online), advertising production operations worldwide and has overall responsibility for FT Conferences and global marketing.

Mr Hughes reports to John Ridding, CEO of the Financial Times, and sits on the FT's board of management.
Mr Hughes first joined the Financial Times in 1983. His first role was as Sales and Marketing Manager for France, based in the Paris office. In 1987, he was made Publishing Director for the Financial Times, in France. He became European Advertisement Director in 1991 and, in 1993, was appointed Advertising and Marketing Director for Continental Europe. Prior to his current role he was the FT's Worldwide Advertising Director.

He began his career in 1976 as a teacher of French, German and English, working in various schools and countries. In 1981, he moved into advertising sales at Playboy and Media Networks.

Mr Hughes graduated from the University of Oxford with an MA (Hons) in Modern Languages. He is a qualified teacher and is married with three children.
