A PIONEERING PLATFORM FOR GOVERNMENTS ACROSS ASIA TO PRESENT THEIR INITIATIVES TO THE MARKET, AND FOR THE PRIVATE SECTOR TO LEARN OF NEW INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITIES

On November 11 and 12, 2009, during the APEC meetings in Singapore, the World Bank, the Singapore Ministry of Finance and the Monetary Authority of Singapore, in association with the Financial Times and the World Bank-ASEAN Infrastructure Finance Network, and with AusAID support, gathered leading policy-makers, investors and strategists for a ground-breaking Summit to explore the latest infrastructure financing and urban development solutions, and the opportunities for public-private partnership.

This landmark conference -- the first of an annual series -- featured an opening address by Singapore's Minister for Finance, Tharman Shanmugaratnam, a keynote interview with World Bank President Robert Zoellick, an exclusive panel featuring APEC Finance Ministers, and another with global city mayors and local government leaders

A unique series of presentations showcased innovative infrastructure financing structures and cutting-edge models of urban infrastructure development being undertaken by cities and central governments to ensure long-term project viability and continued economic growth.

We look forward to building on the achievements of that inaugural event with the organisation in 2010 of the second World Bank-Singapore Infrastructure Finance Summit, again under the auspices of the World Bank-Singapore Urban Hub.
