Ralph Mucerino
COO, Chartis Insurance
Ralph Mucerino is Senior Vice President of Chartis, Chief Operating Officer of Chartis International and Chairman of the company's Global Marine and Energy division. Prior to his current positions with Chartis, Mr. Mucerino held a number of senior management positions in the U.S. and international business units of American International Group, Inc. (AIG).
In 1979, Mr. Mucerino joined AIG from The Travelers, where he had started his professional career in the property and casualty industry. In 1994, he was given responsibility for re-engineering AIGs foreign non-life insurance operations worldwide. Following this position, Mr. Mucerino moved to France to manage the general insurance businesses for AIG's European operations. In 1996, Mr. Mucerino returned to New York and assumed responsibility for the Africa-Middle East region. Following this posting, he was assigned to Japan as President of the Far East Region, AIG's largest general insurance operations outside of the United States.
In 2002, Mr. Mucerino returned to New York to be President of AIG Global Energy, the market leader in providing risk management and insurance related products and services to the energy industry. A few years later, he would become President of the newly created AIG Global Marine and Energy division.
In 2007, Mr. Mucerino, together with his duties as President Global Marine and Energy, was given the challenge of establishing two new business practices, Financial Institutions Practice (Non-U.S.) and Alternative Energy and Eco-Practice (Global). In November of 2008, Mr. Mucerino was appointed Chief Operating Officer for the company's international businesses. In 2009, he was elected as Senior Vice President of Chartis Inc. and elevated to Chairman of Chartis Global Marine and Energy.
Mr. Mucerino has a degree in Business Administration from St. John's University.
