Stephen Barter
Chairman of Advisory Board, Oxford University Programme for the Future of Cities
Stephen Barter is a Senior Executive Director and Head of Real Estate Investment at The First Investor (TFI), Qatar. TFI is an advisor to both Qatari Diar and Barwa, the real estate investment and development entities of the Qatar Investment Authority. Mr Barter's career experience extends to property financing and investment, consulting to governments and major multinational companies, privatisations, public private partnerships and the creation and management of property funds. Prior to joining TFI, he was Group Projects Director at Grosvenor, the Duke of Westminster's international property investment, development and fund management company, which invests in 17 countries within Europe, North America, Asia and Australia. He was previously an equity partner of Richard Ellis (now CBRE), and Head of European Real Estate at a major international investment bank. Among other appointments, Mr Barter is Chairman of the Advisory Board for Oxford University's Programme for the Future of Cities (which he also helped to found), a member of the Global Advisory Board of the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, and the immediate past UK Chairman of the Urban Land Institute.
