Barry Cheung
Chairman, Urban Renewal Authority, Hong Kong
Barry Cheung Chun-yuen, JP has been Chairman of Hong Kong's Urban Renewal Authority (URA) since 2007 and a board member since 2001. He is also Chairman of the Hong Kong Mercantile Exchange. Mr Cheung began his career as a consultant with McKinsey & Co in the US and Asia before becoming a full-time member of the Hong Kong government's Central Policy Unit on secondment from McKinsey. Among his other roles, he is currently Chairman of the Standing Committee on Disciplined Services Salaries and Conditions of Service, an Alternate Chairman of the Pay Trend Survey Committee, a member of the Commission on Strategic Development, and a member of the Standing Commission on Civil Service Salaries and Conditions of Service. He is a former Chairman of the Corruption Prevention Advisory Committee of the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC). Mr Cheung received a Bachelor of Science degree with First Class Honours in Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Sussex and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
