Irina Akimova is the MP, Deputy Chair of the Parliamentary Committee of Economic Policy and Emeritus President of BEST think tank.
Ms. Akimova is a deputy of the Sixth Verkhovna Rada.
From March 2006 to September 2007, she was the General Director of BEST think tank.
In 2005, she was the Director of the Blue Ribbon Analytical and Advisory Centre-UNDP. She lectured at the Economics Education and Research Consortium (EERC).
During 1999-2004, she worked as the Director of the Institute of Economic Research and Political Consultations sponsored by the governments of Ukraine and Germany.
From 1996 to 2002, she was a researcher at Otto von Geryke Technical University at Magdeburg, Germany. She was awarded the DAAD scholarship of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.
During 1997-1998, she worked as a researcher of the Economy Center of Central and Eastern Europe, organized by Warsaw University (Poland) in partnership with Columbia University (USA).
She holds a PhD in economy from Kharkiv National University.
