Robert Wright
Transport Correspondent, Financial Times
Robert Wright has been transport correspondent of the Financial Times since July 2003 and in that time has covered a wide range of issues relating to surface transport, focusing especially heavily on the UK and European rail sectors, world shipping and trends towards road pricing worldwide. He was named Transport Correspondent of the year at the 2006 and 2008 UK national transport awards and named news journalist of the year by London's Seahorse Club in 2008 and 2009.
For four and a half years before taking up his present post, Mr Wright was the Budapest correspondent of the Financial Times and Economist, covering Hungary, Croatia, Slovenia, and Bosnia-Herzegovina extensively and occasionally also covering other countries in Central and Eastern Europe. He first joined the Financial Times in 1997 and before that worked for the Scotsman, one of the main national newspapers in Scotland.
Mr Wright holds an Master of Arts in English Language and Literature from St Andrews University and a diploma in journalism from Strathclyde University.
