Stephen Anderson
Chief Risk Officer
HSBC

Stephen joined HSBC as an International Manager in 1983 and has worked in eight countries, covering almost all business lines. More recently he has specialised in risk management and COO roles. Stephen established the Credit Risk function in Thailand in 1998 during the Asian crisis, and spend the next two years working out HSBC's non-performing loan portfolio in Thailand. As COO, first for HSBC Singapore and more recently for HSBC Turkey, he has successfully implemented major strategic cost reduction programmes. Stephen took over as Chief Risk Officer for HSBC in Europe in February 2009. Stephen has a Masters degree in History from Cambridge University and his hobbies include fitness, golf, music and the history of  warfare.

Jonathan Ford
Associate Editor and Chief Leader Writer
Financial Times

Jonathan Ford was appointed chief leader writer at the FT in January 2010. He joined from Reuters where he was commentary editor and set up the companys first team covering financial comment. Before that, he worked for eight years at the financial commentary service Breakingviews, of which he was a co-founder. Mr. Ford started his career in investment banking, working for Morgan Grenfell as a corporate financier. After moving into journalism, he worked as a financial reporter for the Evening Standard and then at the FT, where he wrote for the Lex column. Mr. Ford has a degree in modern history from Magdalen College, Oxford University.


 


Steve Lucas
Group Finance Director
National Grid

Steve began his career with Robson Rhodes in London later joining Shell International Petroleum Company where, over the following 11 years, he occupied a number of finance management positions in London, Hong Kong and East Africa, culminating in his appointment as finance manager in Shell UK's Downstream Business.

Steve joined the former British Gas in 1994 as finance director for the Exploration and Production Division, taking on additional responsibility for its International Downstream Business in 1996.

Appointed Treasurer of BG Group in 1998, he subsequently became Finance Director for the newly formed Lattice Group, following its demerger from BG Group in 2000.

Following Lattice's merger with National Grid Group in 2002 to form National Grid Transco, Steve was appointed Finance Director.

National Grid announced its new global lines of operating business model at its interim results in November 2006, where it was confirmed that Steve Lucas would assume global responsibility for Finance & Shared Services.


Gail Lumsden
Group Head of Strategy and Planning
SABMiller PLC

Gail joined SABMiller in March 2004 as Group Head of Strategy & Planning and is responsible for the strategy and planning processes for the Group and assists the Executive Committee with the development of the corporate strategy.

Gail has significant international experience and has worked at corporate, regional and operating company levels in the global beverages industry in the UK, Western and Central Europe, North America, Africa and Asia. Prior to joining SABMiller, Gail spent 13 years with Diageo / GrandMet Plc where she held a series of diverse and increasingly senior roles in strategy, finance and business development and was latterly Business Development Director, taking the lead in several major M&A transactions.
Gail has a first class degree in Business Studies from the University of Edinburgh and did post graduate studies at Churchill College, Cambridge as part of the R W Wright Studentship Scheme. 

 
Lawrence Rosen
CFO
Deutsche Post DHL

Lawrence Rosen joined Deutsche Post DHL in September 2009 as Chief Financial Officer. Prior to that Rosen, a U.S. native, was CFO of Fresenius Medical Care, the world's largest provider of dialysis products and devices, since 2003. Before joining Fresenius Medical Care, Rosen worked for Aventis S.A. in Strasbourg, France, as Group Senior Vice President and Treasurer for three years. Between 1984 and 2000,
Rosen held different positions at Aventis' predecessor companies Hoechst AG and American Hoechst / Hoechst Celanese Inc. Lawrence Rosen holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the State University of New York and an MBA from the University of Michigan.

 



Alex Wittenberg
Managing Partner, Corporate Risk
Oliver Wyman


 

Alex Wittenberg is the Managing Partner of Oliver Wyman's Corporate Risk practice, with over 20 years of cross-industry experience in risk management advisory and risk transfer solutions. Alex specializes in integrating risk into strategic decision-making and financial performance, designing risk governance for Boards and Management, and developing corporate risk monitoring, mitigation and transfer frameworks. He also advises Board risk and audit committees on risk oversight and strategy. He has developed expertise in manufacturing, oil and gas and life sciences industries. 
 
Alex is Marsh & McLennan's (MMC's) representative to the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), The World Economic Forum's (WEF) Global Risk Network, and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). He is a leader and technical advisor in joint research and publications with these institutions. He is also frequently quoted in leading publications and is a requested speaker on finance and risk topics.
 
Alex has served as an Advisory Board member for a North American oil and gas company and was previously Managing Director and Practice Leader for Risk Finance, Risk Modeling and Financial Products at Marsh, Inc. He is a graduate in Economics and Political Science from the University of Western Ontario.
