Edward Nash
Managing Director and Head, Mergers and Acquisitions (Canada)

Mr. Nash joined CIBC World Markets in 1994 since which most of his time has been dedicated to advising companies on mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, recapitalisations, and reorganisations. During his career, he has executed dozens of completed transactions on behalf of clients across industries spanning industrial and consumer products and services, technology, telecommunications, natural resources, hospitality, logistics, and financial services. Mr. Nash has also been extensively involved in M&A as both a corporate and financial principal.

Preceding his current appointment in 2005, Mr. Nash was a Senior Vice President with CIBC Retail Markets, serving as a member of its Management Team and of the bank’s Senior Leadership Team from 2003 to 2005. He created and led a strategic analytics group focused on uncovering value through the application of quantitative techniques to evaluate competitiveness, revenue-enhancement and asset-protection strategies, and productivity initiatives.

In 2001, Mr. Nash founded the London office of CIBC Capital Partners on behalf of which he developed the unit’s business and investment strategy and built up a successful portfolio of direct equity holdings in industrial manufacturing, consumer manufacturing, media, and entertainment in the context of leveraged buy-outs and recapitalisations. Before this posting, he practised M&A for CIBC World Markets.

Prior to starting with the CIBC group of companies, Mr. Nash was employed by a leading international management consulting firm in Boston and Caracas where he concentrated on developing strategic and organisational solutions for industrial and service clients to maximise shareholder value. He also worked as a merchant and commercial banker earlier in his career in Toronto as well as a financial-custody investigator in Brussels.
