The Financial Times, in association with LatinSource and Bear Stearns invite you to attend 'Latin America - Outlook for 2007'. This high-level conference includes presentations from each speaker followed by a panel discussion with audience participation. The speaker panel comprise senior former policymakers from Argentina, Brazil, Central America, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama, Peru and Venezuela who will discuss the outlook for 2007, the prospects for business growth and the impact of global forces on the region's economies.
Issues to be debated will include:
- How will your country fare over the risks of a major global slowdown or a recession and a sizeable fall in commodity prices?
- What is your country's outlook for a free trade agreement with the US or other trade agreements?
- How vulnerable is your country to a sizeable deterioration in risk aversion/market sentiment next year?
- Do you think the left leaning populist political bias will remain limited to a few countries in Latin America or could it further spread to countries such as yours in the coming year and beyond?
- What are the key challenges for Brazil achieving investment grade in the foreseeable future?
- What are the major differences we are likely to see in a second Lula administration?
- What does Argentina's fiscal outlook look like in 2007 and beyond and do you see a new crisis looming in the horizon?
- How effective will Mexico's new Calderon administration be in tackling AMLO's opposition and in negotiating with Congress?
- What structural reforms are we likely to see in Mexico?
- How serious is the threat of a debt restructuring/default in Ecuador and how would it be done?
