Summit overview
A new digital agenda for Europe is one of the key initiatives of the EU 2020 strategy. As the world becomes more connected and consumers more demanding, the European Commission is planning to stimulate the roll-out and take-up of high-speed broadband networks in order to speed up the rate of growth in the EU economy and address Europe's waning ICT influence on the global stage.
For Europe to benefit fully from high-speed networks and services, appropriate conditions must be in place. This is essential to promote investment and ensure the right infrastructure exists and that there is sufficient competition in the delivery of services.
Yet there are significant challenges to overcome. Will Europe's broadband strategy be enough to deliver a vibrant digital future for Europe? Does more need to be done to ensure Europe has the best communications infrastructure to compete with the US and Asia? If so, how can this be achieved?
At this crucial time, the Financial Times and ETNO are proud to host a half-day summit to discuss the future for Europe's broadband world. The summit will provide a platform for industry input to the debate, bringing together chief executives from ETNO member companies and other leading ICT companies to exchange views with European policy makers, with a strong focus on frank and high-level discussion.
