OVERVIEW

The Financial Times and Citi Private Bank are delighted to announce the inaugural FT/Citi Private Bank Environmental Awards which will take place in London on 19 September 2007.

We are pleased to announce the participation of Dr Robert Watson Chief Scientific Adviser, DEFRA, Chair, Environment Sciences, University of East Anglia, Former Chief Scientist, The World Bank as the honoury keynote speaker.

The Awards will recognise SMEs and large businesses from around the world that have significantly improved their environmental performance in the last financial year.

The Greatest Improvement in Carbon Efficiency Achieved by a Large Enterprise*
Three regional awards: Europe, Middle East and Africa - Asia and Pacific - The Americas

Three regional awards: Europe, Middle East and Africa - Asia and Pacific - The Americas

A global award will be presented to the two companies which have demonstrated the greatest improvement in carbon efficiency in their size category.

*Defined in terms of market capitalisation, Large Enterprise can also be categorised as Large Cap, where market capitalisation exceeds US$5Bn.

In order to meet the climate
change challenge, companies
around the globe must improve
their carbon efficiency. Business
must become progressively less
dependent on carbon emissions.
The first step towards this is for
companies to measure carbon
emissions and these awards will
therefore also acknowledge
transparency. The winning
companies will also have
demonstrated that they have
reduced carbon emissions in their
operations when compared to
turnover and that they are more
carbon efficient than their peers.
