Steve Schleimer
Director, Energy and Environmental Markets, Barclays Capital

Steven Schleimer is a Director of Energy and Environmental Market Regulation at Barclays Capital. Based in New York, Mr. Schleimer is responsible for providing coverage of all regulatory and legislative activities associated with power and emerging emissions market rules in the US, and for identifying and pursuing business opportunities in those areas.

Prior to joining Barclays Capital in 2007, Mr. Schleimer was Vice-President of Market and Regulatory Affairs for Calpine Corporation where he was responsible for managing the regulatory and legislative efforts associated with over 7,000 MW of gas-fired and geothermal generation in the Western United States. Mr. Schleimer played a key role in starting Calpines retail energy business, and was asset manager for a 500 MW combined cycle power plant in Arizona. Previously, he was at Pacific Gas and Electric Company for twelve years in various roles related to wholesale power market transactions.

 Mr. Schleimer has published numerous articles and provided a significant amount of oral and written testimony before federal and state regulatory agencies, as well as the California state legislature. He received a masters degree in Economics from the University of California at Santa Cruz and a bachelors degree in Economics, with highest honors, also from the University of California at Santa Cruz.
