Group Property Director, BT

Elaine Hewitt is Group Property Director at BT with responsibility for more than 7,000 BT buildings in 170 countries worldwide. BTs portfolio is not only large but also hugely varied, including everything from modern Grade A offices through to data centres, telephone exchanges, network sites, satellite earth stations and a mix of industrial buildings all required to deliver BTs products and services.
 
Ms Hewitt is focused on supporting BTs transformation into a global communications services and solutions business. As BT diversifies its customer offer, Ms Hewitt needs to provide the right property platform to underpin the businesss needs. Delivering a flexible and enabling property solution  at the right price  is at the heart of this challenge in a telecoms sector which is evolving and where technology is converging rapidly.
 
BT has led the way in pioneering flexible workspace and, with its understanding of how to combine the elements of people, property and technology, has established a market reputation for innovation. Its work in agility and workplace design has been fundamental to improving the efficiency of the estate and, at the same time, supporting BT people with greater choice in where, when and how they work.
 
Ms Hewitt has more than 20 years experience in corporate real estate and, prior to taking the top property job at BT, led its Global Real Estate and Facilities Management operations for 10 years.
