The Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (CIMA) is the primary regulator of financial services carried out in and from the Cayman Islands, and the sole issuing authority for the Cayman Islands currency. CIMA has four principal statutory functions: (i) to issue and redeem Cayman currency and manage the currency reserves; (ii) to regulate and supervise financial services, and monitor compliance with money laundering regulations; (iii) to provide assistance to overseas regulatory authorities, and (iv) to advise the Cayman Islands Government on monetary, regulatory and cooperative matters.
