We are delighted to announce that Paul Myners, Financial Services Secretary to HM Treasury will present a keynote session on 'Developing a new financial architecture - Lessons learned from the crisis'
Overview
The global financial crisis has placed unprecedented stress on the financial sector and the overall economy. Since its outbreak, global policy makers have taken a number of urgent steps both to stabilise the financial system and to address the now-evident regulatory weaknesses at its heart.
Yet there is no doubt the general economic situation remains extremely difficult. The great challenge is whether the financial system could be rescued again should the crisis worsen significantly. That is why reforms are now being shaped to create a new global financial architecture, one founded on greater international coordination of regulatory approaches, oversight and crisis management to reduce systemic risk and the probability and severity of future financial crises.
At a time when the financial industry is undergoing such significant change, the Financial Times Global Finance Forum: Challenges in developing a new financial architecture will bring together high profile speakers from industry, regulatory bodies, central banks, academia and professional associations for a frank discussion of the challenges associated with developing a new architecture to strengthen the global financial industry.
This high level forum offers a focused programme with a format that provides ample opportunity for speakers and attendees to debate the pathway to recovery for global financial markets.
