Wednesday 19 November 2008, The Pearson Building, London

The CFO is widely regarded as the natural successor to the CEO.   As head of the finance function, the CFO is often the most qualified person to understand how the global business operates. Therefore occupying the role of CFO is considered to be perfect preparation for one day taking on the mantle of the CEO. But is this really true? Are CFOs the best people to become CEOs? Despite the enormous responsibilities that CFOs shoulder, there is nevertheless a considerable gap between running a business and actually leading one. How easy is it for CFOs to bridge this gap?

The evening will be attended by a specially selected group of 40 Finance Officers from both public and private organisations. During the dinner, guest speaker Ian Livingston, CEO, BT Group will share his experiences as former a CFO and how he managed to bridge the gap to become CEO. The dinner will be hosted by John Willman, UK Business Editor, Financial Times.
