Global Business Leaders Day
Economic Outlook: Finding Opportunity in Today's Changing Economic Environment
Wednesday 8 August 2012 - Canada Olympic House, Trafalgar Square, London

More than four years since the onset of the global economic crisis, the world is experiencing one of the worst economic shocks of the past century.

As the world seeks to recover from the global recession, it continues to face new sources of concern.  The European debt crisis, the slow recovery in the United States, and the risk of slowing growth in emerging markets are generating uncertainty, increasing fears of continuing volatility and undermining expectations for near term recovery.

As the world gathers for the London Olympic Games, the Financial Times in partnership with the Government of Canada will bring together international business leaders, senior economists and government officials to discuss the global economic outlook, with a focus on the opportunities, challenges and prospects for investment.

Discussion Topics Include:

  • What lies ahead for the global economy?
  • What more can policymakers do to reduce volatility and speed recovery?
  • When can we expect FDI flows to return to their peak levels?
  • Which host countries and industries will be most favoured by multinational corporations?
  • How are corporations worldwide positioning themselves in this current landscape?
  • What are the key drivers for investment?
  • How does a country like Canada position itself for a greater share of FDI?
