Robert Upton
Treasurer, Cantor Fitzgerald
Robert Upton is Treasurer of Cantor Fitzgerald. In this capacity, Mr. Upton is responsible for the firm's corporate treasury functions globally, which includes global funding, rating agency, bank and fixed income investor relations, funding/liquidity risk management, capital raising and capital allocation, cash/investment and balance sheet management, and transfer pricing/interest allocation within the firm. He joined Cantor in January 2009.
Prior to joining Cantor, Mr. Upton worked at Bear Stearns in the Corporate Treasury department from late 1999 through June 2008, ultimately serving as the firm's Treasurer. At Bear Stearns, Bob was made a Senior Managing Director in 2001, followed by appointments to Assistant Treasurer of The Bear Stearns Companies Inc. in January 2004, Treasurer of Bear Stearns & Co. Inc. in April 2006 and Treasurer of the holding company (The Bear Stearns Companies Inc.) in January 2008.
Prior to his time at Bear Stearns, Mr. Upton worked for a few years at two of the large credit rating agencies running their global securities industry ratings practice, and he spent a total of eight years at two large investment management firms following various financial institution sectors with the majority of the time spent in the money market group at Fidelity Investments. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst, as well as holding both an MBA in Finance and a BBA in Economics from Temple University.
