Laura Shaffer
Director of Shareholder Activities, The Nathan Cummings Foundation
Ms. Shaffer has more than six years of experience successfully engaging public corporations on topics ranging from climate change and energy efficiency to political contributions. As the Director of Shareholder Activities for the Nathan Cummings Foundation, Laura is active in numerous outside groups and shareholder coalitions focusing on responsible investment practices. This includes the Investor Network on Climate Risk, the Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility and the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment, for which she served as the Co-Chair of the Small Funds Initiative Work Stream.
Her prior experience includes serving as a Financial Advisor Associate at Sanford C. Bernstein & Co, where she worked with high net-worth private clients. While at Bernstein, she earned the designation of General Securities Representative (Series 7) and passed the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination (Series 63). Laura has also worked on projects for the Aga Khan Foundation and Christian Aid.
Laura holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations from the College of Wooster and an MSc in Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science. She can be reached at laura.shaffer@nathancummings.org.
