Stephen Viederman

Steve is an author, speaker, advocate and consultant on philanthropy, the redefinition of fiduciary duty, the limits of corporate responsibility, and sustainability. He is a fiduciary serving on the finance committees of the Christopher Reynolds Foundation and the Needmor Fund, and previously as the president of the Jessie Smith Noyes Foundation, from which he retired in 2000. Beginning in the early 90s the Foundation was the leader on what was then called mission-related investing. He is also a shareowner activist, filing with ExxonMobil on a renewable energy policy, and Pfizer on say-on-pay. He serves on the board of the Center for Labor Research, the faculty of SustainAbility, the advisory committees of the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes and Innovest Strategic Value Advisors, and works with people of color communities in the Southwest on community governance.

A native New Yorker, Steve received undergraduate and graduate degrees from Columbia. In addition to grandparenting, he is a cook, photographer, and student of Australian aboriginal art.
